Privacy
This page explains what the Viktrs interactive video records when you watch it.
What we record
- Which video was viewed and which share link or embed it came through.
- Which item you opened or clicked, and which tab it was in.
- Your device type (for example mobile or desktop), with the broad operating system and browser family.
- Your country, only where this has been switched on for the video. We do not record a city or a precise location. Reports never show a country with fewer than five distinct visits on its own.
- The time of each action, recorded to the minute and no finer.
- A random id created each time the page loads, so that actions in that page view can be counted together.
What we do not record
- Your name, email address or any account details.
- Your IP address. It is used briefly to limit abuse and is not stored with the events.
Cookies and browser storage
The player sets no cookies of its own and does not use cookies to track you. A YouTube video does not contact YouTube until you press play: the picture shown first comes through our own server. When you press play, the video plays from youtube-nocookie.com, which may set cookies, and YouTube's player script loads from youtube.com. When an organisation turns on the first-view tip, a small "seen" flag is kept in your browser's local storage.
Shops, video and pictures
Videos and pictures are served from our video host (Cloudflare Stream or our own storage) and our own picture proxy. Links to shops open in a new tab and carry a Viktrs tracking code for the item. On some videos, links go through an affiliate network, which may set its own cookies when you click. Once you are at a shop, the shop's own privacy policy applies.
